

"So we would obviously talk to John and the team and say, 'Is this possible? Is this crazy? Should we steer away from it?'" recalled Edwards. With this in mind, Edwards decided to set up a meeting with Industrial Light & Magic co-founder John Dykstra to see what he and his team could do. In order for him to be an integral character, however, they needed to figure out the best way to bring him to life. But as we developed the script more and more, it became like, 'He needs to be a proper character in this film for this to work.'"
